Preschools curriculum look like?

At our preschool, we offer a thoughtfully blended curriculum that nurtures the whole child—socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically. Our approach combines evidence-based programs and respected educational philosophies to create a rich, individualized learning experience for every child.

Foundations of Our Curriculum:

We take a whole-child approach to learning by blending the Second Step Social-Emotional Curriculum with the Love and Logic approach. These programs help children develop empathy, build strong emotional foundations, and learn essential life skills like self-regulation, communication, and positive decision-making.

Our academic and play-based curriculum is thoughtfully grounded in the educational philosophies of Jean Piaget, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf. We focus heavily on sensorimotor learning in the early years—encouraging children to explore and understand the world through movement, imaginative play, and hands-on discovery.

We also incorporate Zoo-phonics, a fun, multisensory language arts program widely used by Butte County elementary schools. This helps our students build early literacy skills that align with what they’ll encounter in kindergarten, making for a confident and well-prepared transition.

Each classroom is guided by the developmental stage of its students and follows a curriculum tailored to their unique needs. In our infant and toddler programs, we introduce foundational concepts through shape and color of the week focuses. Our upper preschool classrooms engage in letter of the week activities, reinforced with Zoo-phonics characters and sounds.

In addition, teachers develop fun weekly themes—often inspired by the children's interests—that bring learning to life in creative, meaningful ways. These themes might include topics like “Under the Sea,” “Transportation,” or “Community Helpers,” and are woven into art, storytelling, science, sensory play, and more. This flexible, child-centered approach keeps the classroom dynamic, engaging, and full of joyful discovery.

Collaborative Teaching & Leadership:

Mrs. Bronwyn, our Director, serves as the school’s Curriculum Advisor, ensuring a cohesive vision across all programs. Each week, lead teachers participate in curriculum meetings within their developmental stage teams, sharing plans and ideas so all classrooms work in harmony. This collaborative approach fosters innovation, consistency, and intentional teaching across the school.

Bible Curriculum:

Faith is an important part of our program. We follow a year-long Bible curriculum based on The Beginner’s Bible, carefully sectioned out to explore key biblical stories throughout the year. Each month, we focus on a character trait paired with a Bible verse and song that reinforces spiritual growth in an age-appropriate and engaging way. On Wednesdays, children ages 2 through TK come together for Chapel Time, where we sing, share Bible stories, and fellowship as a school community.

A Personalized Approach:

Above all, we believe in providing an individualized preschool experience, where each child is seen, known, and supported. Our goal is to ensure that every child is engaged, learning, and thriving—preparing them for a joyful, confident transition into kindergarten and beyond.
